My Governing Philosophy
Good local government is about balancing many priorities—not just one. Every decision should reflect sound judgment, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and what’s best for the entire Maple Grove community—not just today, but for future generations. That’s the approach I brought to every decision during my eight years on the City Council, and it’s the approach I’ll continue if elected.

Responsible Growth
As Maple Grove grows and changes, thoughtful leadership matters more than ever.
During my time on the Maple Grove City Council, I helped guide one of Minnesota’s fastest-growing communities. As Maple Grove nears full build-out, our work is shifting from planning new development to guiding redevelopment, reinvestment, and economic development that strengthens our tax base while helping keep property taxes as affordable as possible and maintaining the high-quality services residents expect.
The City cannot decide whether private property is developed, but we can help guide how it develops through responsible planning that reflects our long-term vision and the character of our community.

Safe Neighborhoods
Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of a strong community. They don’t happen by accident—they are built through strategic investments, thoughtful leadership, and strong partnerships with our police and fire departments.
During my service on the Maple Grove City Council, I consistently supported the investments needed to keep our Police Department and Fire Department strong. Those decisions helped ensure our first responders have the personnel, equipment, and resources they need to serve our community effectively. During my time on council, our Police Department, with the support of council and regional partners, was able to build The North Metro Regional Public Safety Training Facility that serves 20 regional partner agencies from the local to federal level.
Each year, I look forward to visiting neighborhoods during National Night Out alongside our first responders. Those conversations remind me that safe neighborhoods are built through strong partnerships between our Police Department and Fire Department and the residents they serve. When neighbors know one another and work together, communities become stronger and safer.
If elected, I will continue supporting the people, planning, and investments that help keep Maple Grove one of the safest communities in Minnesota.
My commitment remains the same: to ensure Maple Grove is a community where families feel safe putting down roots, children can play, neighbors know one another, and everyone feels safe calling Maple Grove home.
Parks, Lakes, & Quality of Life
Maple Grove’s exceptional quality of life is one of the reasons so many people choose to live, work, and raise their families here. Our parks, lakes, trails, recreation programs, and community gathering spaces create opportunities for families to connect, neighbors to build relationships, and residents of all ages to enjoy the outdoors.
During my time on the City Council, I supported investments that strengthened these amenities while respecting the taxpayers who make them possible. Our beautiful Fernbrook Fields and Gleason Fields were developed and opened during my two terms on Council. I am also proud to have helped launch the planning and funding of the Community Center Expansion during my time on the Council, a resident-approved investment that is now moving into its second phase in partnership with the Maple Grove Park Board.
Our lakes are part of what makes Maple Grove unique. Protecting them requires sound environmental stewardship and continued partnership with the Lake Quality Commission so they remain healthy and enjoyable for future generations.
In the years ahead, the Council and Park Board will evaluate the future redevelopment of Weaver Lake Park and Beach, one of Maple Grove’s signature parks and an important gathering place for our community. Like all major park improvements, those decisions should be fiscally responsible, informed by community input, and guided by a clear vision for the future.
The things that make Maple Grove special don’t happen by accident. They are built over time through careful leadership, wise investments, and a lasting commitment to preserving the parks, lakes, trails, and community spaces that make our city a place people are proud to call home.
Responsible Stewardship
For eight years, I helped oversee Maple Grove’s operating budget and long-term Capital Improvement Plan. Those responsibilities reinforced a principle that has guided every decision I’ve made: every dollar the City spends is a tax dollar entrusted to us by our residents.
Responsible stewardship isn’t measured by how little government spends. It’s measured by how wisely it plans, how carefully it invests, and whether today’s decisions leave the community stronger tomorrow. We don’t spend simply to spend—we invest strategically in streets, parks, public facilities, and essential services that residents rely on every day while preparing for tomorrow’s needs before they become tomorrow’s problems.
My time on the Council also reinforced the importance of steady leadership during times of uncertainty. Good government isn’t tested when everything is going according to plan—it’s tested when circumstances change and thoughtful, balanced decisions matter most.
Looking ahead, I will continue approaching every decision with the same sound judgment, long-term perspective, and respect for the taxpayers who place their trust in us. My commitment is simple: to leave Maple Grove as strong financially as it is as a community.
